The Child Development Program is an early intervention program that serves children ages 12 to 36 months with special needs or are at-risk for developmental delay. Our program provides a global approach to promote optimum skill development. A multi-disciplinary team of professionals works with the child and family to build skills in socialization, fine & gross motor, speech & language, cognition, sensory organization, and self help skills. A full developmental evaluation is completed upon each child entering the program to identify strengths as well as areas of delay or concern. An individual program plan is then developed to establish specific goals and objectives to meet over a 6-month period of time. Early evening parent education meetings and support groups are offered regularly. Appeals, Complaints & Comments Our center-based program offers 21/2 hour sessions to provide children the opportunity to socialize with other children their own age. Learning is promoted through observing, modeling, and imitating. An integrated component provides the opportunity for children to interact with typically developing peers. Monitoring from speech, occupational, and physical therapists are provided on a weekly basis. Families are considered to play an integral part of the early intervention team and have the option to participate in the program giving them the chance to meet other families, learn techniques and activities to use in the home environment, as well as keep close communication with staff. This collaborative involvement in all phases of the program is highly encouraged and welcomed to facilitate the child’s transition into the least restrictive environment and appropriate placement in the community and public school system.
